Instructions for Acquiring the 2007-2008 Ortho Imagery Partnership Data

The 2007 – 2008 Ortho Imagery Partnership data can be downloaded from the USGS National Map Seamless Server at http://seamless.usgs.gov/index.php.

The USGS has a tutorial that will show you how to use the viewer and download the imagery. It’s available at http://seamless.usgs.gov/tutorial.php.

Downloading from The National Map
  1. Once on the National Map Seamless Server, click on "View & Download United States Data."
  2. Use the zoom tool to zoom into the area of interest.
  3. When downloading the 2007 – 2008 Ortho Imagery Partnership data you will want to click on the “Download” tab located on the right hand side of the viewer, click the arrow next to the Orthoimagery category, and then click the box beside the product. The Ortho Imagery Partnership data will have dates of 2007 or 2008 beside the county. Note: As of March 13, 2009 not all of the 2008 imagery has been uploaded to the server.
  4. Use the download tools on the left hand side of the viewer to select an area for download.

The default download size is 100MB. You can change this to the maximum 250 MB by clicking on “Modify Data Request” on The National Map Seamless Server Request Summary Page.

Once you click on the Modify Data Request link you will get the Request Options Page. You want to scroll all the way to the bottom in order to change the size. Be sure that you select 250 on the “maximum size (MB) per piece” under Delivery Options.

When selecting an area to download, if the area you have selected is too large you will receive the following message: “The area selected exceeds the maximum downloadable area. Click OK to select a smaller downloadable area.”

If you receive this message you should select a smaller area to download or arrange to have data shipped on an external hard drive.

Shipping Via External Hard Drive

If your area of interest is too large to download you can have the data shipped on an external hard drive.

Email your request to: bulkdatainfo@usgs.gov. You will need to send them an external hard drive. If you are not a Federal, state, or local government agency you will also need to furnish them with an account number for shipping via FedEx or UPS.
